Cowboys and girls competing to take home the gold. Southeastern Professional Finals Rodeo is coming back to Neshoba County Coliseum for a 4th time.
“It is a very nice facility. It fits us. It has that hometown feel, that finals rodeo. Our cowboys and cowgirls bring their families with them because it’s the end of the year and Philadelphia has that hometown feel to it,” says Bill Hudson, Chairman of SPRA.
The Neshoba County coliseum is quiet right now, but soon red dirt will be laid down and preparation will begin for the rodeo events that will take place January 8th and 9th.
“We’re going to have bucking bulls. It may not have a heartbeat, but it’s just as much as one that is. Mechanical bull, your eight seconds of glory. We have a rock climbing wall, jump houses, a lot of great things for the kids,” says Mack Ginn, Announcer.
Inside the arena will be bareback riding, bull riding, team roping, barrel racing among others. The rodeo has added a new competition this year.
” Southeastern Professionals Rodeo Association has now added steer wresting event to our sanctioned events, so not only will you see the events you’ve seen in the past, you will also see the cowboys bulldogging or steer wresting,” says Hudson.
Not only do attendees get to watch the events, but they have the opportunity to meet the acts performing.
“A lot of tight races, a lot of really good action, a lot of former champions are back again. You’ll get to meet those. We’ve got some special introductions each night and are opening some neat new stuff and you’ll get to meet some of those past champions,” says Hudson.
The first 200 kids to attend the rodeo on the first night get a free prize.
