Bulldogs

The Holmes Community College Bulldogs will face their stiffest test of the season tonight when the team travels to Senatobia to take on top ranked Northwest Mississippi Community College.

Not only are the Rangers number one in the most recent JCGridiron Poll, they are also the defending NJCAA national champions.

The Bulldogs, ranked 11 in this week’s poll, boast a 4-0 record and the number one rushing offense in the country.

In 2015, the Bulldogs came within one minute of defeating the Rangers.

Holmes took a one point lead with under a minute to play, but Northwest used a combination of timeouts and a couple of big passes to move down the field and kick a game winning field goal as time expired.

Tonight’s game can be heard on Breezy 101, Breezynews.com, and the Breezy 101 mobile app. Pregame begins 6:00 pm. Kickoff is set for 6:30 pm.

Danny Townsend, Emergency Management Coordinator for Attala County, spoke to members of the Attala County Library’s Teen Council  on Wednesday as part of Disaster Preparedness month in September .

Townsend told teens that our county has approximately 150 active emergency first responders. He stressed the importance of individuals being prepared for the first 72 hours of a disaster including having a gallon of water per day for each person in the household, knowledge of basic first aid, cash money, and preparation for warmth in the winter in case of power outages.

Townsend stated persons should always assume that downed power lines are “live” even if they don’t appear to be.

More information is available on disaster preparedness at www.fema.gov or www.redcross.org.

The Teen Library Council concluded its meeting by playing “Bingo for Books.”
