The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs traveled to Itawamba this afternoon to play the Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats in the MACJC State Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs entered as the #3 seed out of the North Division while the nationally ranked Jones County Lady Bobcats entered as the #1 seed from the South Division. The Lady Bulldogs played good basketball against the highly ranked Lady Bobcats throughout the 1st quarter and had a lead at one time in the quarter but trailed at the buzzer by 7 points 19-12. The Lady Bobcats outscored Holmes in the 2nd quarter 17 to 12 to take a 12 point lead at halftime 36-24. During the 3rd quarter the Lady Bulldogs would shave 2 points off the Jones County lead with the Lady Bobcats leading by 15 points 51-36. In the 4th quarter the Lady Bulldogs continued to play with a lot of heart refusing to give up and although the Lady Bobcats came away with a 20 point 70-50 victory the Lady Bulldogs played em tough to the end.
